The Elite Series from Donruss has always been an insert set that stuck in my mind, no matter what year it was released or how the design looked. How can you not like a set that was limited to just 10,000 back in 1991?
By the time 1997 rolled around, the numbering went down from 10,000 all the way to just 2,500. Not to mention, the insert wasn’t as flashy as the first years that were released. It was a simple design, set on a marble-like background with a player photo on the front and a small blurb about their career on the back.
This is my favorite design for the set, mainly in part that it’s very simple yet eye catching in it’s own way.
