A few months ago, I wrote an article regarding 1998 Donruss Diamond Kings. At the time, I was contemplating completing the set because of how attractive it looks (at least in my opinion).
I didn’t have much help though, since during the time of the article, I was informed that not only were there 10,000 sets made, the first 500 (that’s right, 500 out of 10,000) were printed on canvas stock. I was faced with a tough decision: do I go for the canvas set, which will definitely be more expensive, or just go for the base set?
Considering the fact that I’m not an auto CEO or mega bank that was offered a bailout, I went with choice #2 which is, of course, more affordable on my end.
On the Freedom Cardboard forums, a member saw my post and offered me 2 cards to help jump start my collection, giving me a total of 3 out of 20 needed. I cannot remember the name of the member (I am truly sorry) but I can say that I am grateful for his generosity. Now I just need to hunt for the last 17 cards…
